Green-Schwarz Superstring on AdS3 * S3
Jaemo Park, Soo-Jong Rey
TL;DR
The paper addresses constructing a Green-Schwarz superstring action on AdS3 × S3 with Ramond-Ramond flux within a coset superspace framework. It introduces symplectically Majorana-Weyl spinors to decompose 10D Type IIB spinors and derive a 6D (2,0) on-shell background, enabling a straightforward κ-symmetry analysis. The authors derive a nonlinear sigma-model action on the supercoset SU(1,1|2)_L × SU(1,1|2)_R / (SO(1,2) × SO(3)) with a fixed Wess-Zumino term given by a closed 3-form H. This formulation clarifies κ-symmetry constraints, yields an explicit RR-flux background action, and sets the stage for studying dualities and quantization in curved RR backgrounds. The approach aligns with prior AdS5 × S5 GS constructions while exploiting the simpler 6D spinor structure.
Abstract
Green-Schwarz action of Type IIB string on $AdS_3 \times S^3$ is constructed via coset superspace approach. The construction relies exclusively on symplectically Majorana-Weyl spinor formalism, thus permitting it easier to prove $κ$-symmetry for on-shell Type IIB supergravity backgrounds.
