Double charmed baryon production at B-factory

TL;DR
The paper investigates the production of double charmed baryons Σ^{(*)}_{cc} at a B-factory with high luminosity. It critiques fragmentation-based estimates at sqrt{s}=10.58 GeV and instead applies quark-hadron duality, linking cc diquark production to hadronic final states within a defined duality window. The analysis yields a cross-section around (70 ± 10) × 10^-3 pb and an event rate of roughly 7×10^3 per year (order of 10^4 in optimistic hadronization scenarios) at L = 10^34 cm^-2 s^-1, suggesting observable yields at B-factory energies. Major uncertainties stem from cc diquark hadronization and color-state composition, highlighting the need for careful treatment of hadronization into Σ^{(*)}_{cc} versus exotic states.
Abstract
The cross-section for the double charmed baryon production at a $B$-factory is estimated on the basis of the perturbative QCD calculations for the $c c$-diquark production as well as of the quark-hadron duality.
