HERWIG 6.3 Release Note

G. Corcella, I. G. Knowles, G. Marchesini, S. Moretti, K. Odagiri, P. Richardson, M. H. Seymour, B. R. Webber

TL;DR

HERWIG 6.3 expands the event-generation toolkit with MRST LO PDFs, expanded gauge-boson and MSSM Higgs production channels, and numerical improvements for high-energy colliders. It introduces an optimized multi-channel phase-space integrator to efficiently handle complex final states and adds a negative weights option and CIRCE beamstrahlung interface to broaden applicability in realistic collider environments. The release also includes ISAWIG updates and various stability and correctness fixes, reinforcing accuracy for LHC-scale simulations. Together, these changes enhance MSSM phenomenology coverage, background modeling, and simulation reliability for high-energy collider studies.

Abstract

A new release of the Monte Carlo program HERWIG (version 6.3) is now available. The main new features are new (MRST) built-in parton distribution functions, more SM gauge boson production processes, 2 to 3 MSSM Higgs production processes, an option to handle negative event weights, and an interface to the CIRCE beamstrahlung program.
