Memories of Prof. George Lazarides
C. Pallis
TL;DR
This memoir recounts Prof. G. Lazarides' mentorship and scientific influence in MSSM phenomenology and cosmology, framing the author's PhD work on CDM in the $CMSSM$ with $YU$, the evolution to Yukawa quasi-unification in a Pati-Salam setting, and the development of multiple inflationary scenarios tied to grand-unified physics. It highlights methodological approaches such as relic-density calculations with annihilation and coannihilation channels, cosmo-phenomenological constraints from $b$-quark mass corrections and $b o s gamma$, and the exploration of inflationary branches (FHI variants) and their topological relics. The narrative also emphasizes Lazarides' exceptional mentorship, leadership, and breadth of interests, illustrating how his guidance sustained collaborations across periods and continents. Collectively, the text underscores the enduring significance of his work in connecting SUSY phenomenology, cosmology, and inflation with a humane, interdisciplinary mentorship style that shaped both scientific directions and personal development.
Abstract
I present some memories of my Ph.D supervisor and, later, collaborator but always encouraging supporter Prof. G. Lazarides. Some of his contributions to our common and related scientific activities on the phenomenology of MSSM and inflation are also summarized.
