Nonleptonic $Ω_{b}^{*}\rightarrowΩ_{c}^{*}P(V)$ weak transitions in QCD

TL;DR
This work analyzes the dominant two-body nonleptonic weak decays of the spin-3/2 bottom baryon Ω_b^* into Ω_c^* plus a pseudoscalar or vector meson within a naive factorization framework extended to baryons via a diquark approximation. Using the effective Hamiltonian with current–current operators and the color-allowed coefficient a_1(μ)=C_1(μ)+(1/N_c)C_2(μ), the decay amplitudes factorize into a meson decay constant and the Ω_b^*→Ω_c^* transition form factors, which are taken from Amiri:2025gcf and parameterized for q^2 values corresponding to the final-state mesons. The authors compute decay widths for the dominant channels, finding, for example, Γ(Ω_b^*→Ω_c^*π^−)≈5.6×10^−13 GeV and Γ(Ω_b^*→Ω_c^*ρ^−)≈1.5×10^−12 GeV, with vector and axial-vector form-factor contributions detailed in the tables. Including semileptonic channels from their previous work, the total width is Γ_tot(Ω_b^*→Ω_c^*X)≈12.97×10^−12 GeV, with nonleptonic decays contributing about 6.18×10^−12 GeV, highlighting the substantial role of nonleptonic processes in the Ω_b^* decay dynamics and providing predictions that can aid experimental identification and testing of factorization in heavy-baryon decays.
Abstract
We investigate the nonleptonic two-body weak decays of the single bottom baryon $Ω_{b}^{*}$ into $Ω_{c}^{*}P(V)$ final states within the factorization framework. Employing this framework and incorporating the contributions from the current-current operators, we compute the tree-level decay amplitudes and decay widths of the $Ω_{b}^{*}\rightarrowΩ_{c}^{*}P(V)$ processes in terms of the $Ω_{b}^{*}\rightarrowΩ_{c}^{*}$ transition form factors. Here, $P$ and $V$ denote pseudoscalar and vector mesons, respectively. Using the form factors obtained in our previous work, we evaluate the numerical values of the decay widths for the dominant nonleptonic weak channels. This study complements our previous analysis of the semileptonic weak transitions $Ω_{b}^{*}\rightarrowΩ_{c}^{*}\ell\barν_{\ell}$ reported in Ref. [1], thereby providing a detailed investigation of dominant $Ω_{b}^{*}\rightarrowΩ_{c}^{*}$ weak decays of the $Ω_{b}^{*}$ baryon.
