The Hall of Singularity: VR Experience of Prophecy by AI
Jisu Kim, Kirak Kim
TL;DR
This work investigates AI mythologization in contemporary culture and proposes a VR-based art installation to explore it. It presents an end-to-end pipeline where user voice is captured, translated, and transformed into a personalized prophecy through a sequence of AI models (Whisper → ChatGPT → Deforum) delivered within a VR temple via HTTP-enabled remote services. The design emphasizes presence and interpretive openness, using locomotion, multi-surface prophecy displays, and ambient transitions to enhance immersion. Overall, The Hall of Singularity demonstrates how VR can mediate access to advanced AI capabilities and offers a framework for future interactive AI–VR artworks that probe the cultural myth around omnipotent AI entities.
Abstract
"The Hall of Singularity" is an immersive art that creates personalized experiences of receiving prophecies from an AI deity through an integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR). As a metaphor for the mythologizing of AI in our society, "The Hall of Singularity" offers an immersive quasi-religious experience where individuals can encounter an AI that has the power to make prophecies. This journey enables users to experience and imagine a world with an omnipotent AI deity.
